The free promotion decision passed by the ministry of education for students excluding grade 8 and 12 is done to motivate students to return back to school when schools reopened said.

Minister of ministry of education Dr.ing Getahun mekurya said the aim of the decision passed is to motivate students to return to school and to share the burden of COVID -19 effect when the closed schools reopened and students get back to school.

The minister added " currently we are strictly working on returning students to school when the school reopened. So the aim and focus of the free promotion is to return students to school."

According to the minister In order to solve the problem of quality of education permanently the ministry is developing a new educational system which is going to be implemented on 2014 E.C.

When schools reopened Students who promoted freely will take compensation class for the class they missed this year and keep their regular class.

Due to closed schools following the spread of COVID -19 more than 26 million students are out of school.
