Education Management Information System (EMIS) and ICT Directorate 

   There are three teams and services under EMIS ICT:

  • EMIS Team
  • ICT Experts Team
  • ICT Support Team

EMIS & ICT Directorate

Main duties of EMIS & ICT Directorate is to collect and organize, education data, prepare Annual Education Statistics,  deliver education related data for decision makers and users, and give technical support on ICT related issues.

1.EMIS Major Services:-

  • To collect, process, analyze, publish, disseminate and give efficient services of educational information for users;
  • To promote the use of education information both internally and externally by increasing quality;
  • Create a network of users and producers and increase the role of information in the development of education;
  • To provide accurate, relevant and timely data for planning and decision making purposes;
  • Cultivate the ability of EMIS expert/focal at regional, Zonal, Woreda and School level;
  • Distribution of abstracts, quick references, indicators’ reports to users on regular basis;
  • Publication and distribution of pamphlets and posters to users;
  • Reports and briefing to planners and decision makers at different levels of administration;
  • To assess the education management information system internal data quality, verification and validation;
  • Monitoring and evaluation EMIS activity at all level;
  • Conduct data related research and survey to support the delivery of quality education;
  • Capacitate all EMIS structure to school level with resources;
  • Implement recent and modern technology to improve timely, accurate and quality of the data.

  • Education Budget and Expenditure

2. ICT Expert Major Services:-

  • Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans;
  • Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly;
  • Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security;
  • Install and maintain network hardware and software;
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN;
  • Administer servers,  routers, switches, firewalls;
  • Reviewing current systems;
  • Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals;
  • Working closely with analysts, designers and staff.
  • Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes
  • Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live
  • Preparation of training manuals for users
  • Maintaining the systems once they are up and running

3. ICT Support Major Services:-

  • Provide first line support for all staff.
  • Responsible for logging incidents and service requests and resolving support requests.
  • Ensuring that service levels and targets are achieved as well as meeting customer satisfaction.
  • Continuous service delivery demands is responsible for resolving support requests as well as meeting customer satisfaction.
  • Provides services over the phone, through e-mail, phone, in person (for walk-in customers) and self-service.
